Phil Weintraub is IBM’s Vice President of IT Transformation for zSystems Clients. He is responsible for the transition of our clients to cloud like pricing for our North America clients. In Phil’s previous role, he led IBM’s technical and sales teams assisting our mainframe clients in the modernization of their systems for hybrid cloud, real time analytics and machine learning, and applications.

Db2 for z/OS, AI, and the Future of Data on Z

Db2 is investing for leadership in the cloud, AI, and analytics era, while extending our mainframe heritage of 24×7 availability, security, scalability, and performance. At the same time, IBM is also investing in bringing Watson Machine Learning
to IBM Z to make it easier and more effective to integrate AI into transactional applications. And Db2 is embedding some of these AI capabilities into the system to help clients to improve performance and resiliency.

This session will look at some of the recent and planned capabilities that position IBM Z as a leading platform for data and AI into the future.

Jeff Josten is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the lead architect of Db2 for z/OS. He has worked in Db2 Development at the IBM Silicon Valley Lab since 1985. He owns several patents in data base technology, and is a frequent speaker at
user groups and customer meetings.

What’s New with Db2 Analytics Accelerator at State Farm

State Farm has participated in the Sponsor User efforts and evolved the usage of Db2 Analytics Accelerator technology. In this session, Greg will share their user experience and results including IDAA on z/OS, IDAA Federation for V7 and GDPS Global Mirror Support for IDAA on z/OS.

Greg DeBo has been involved with Mainframe Data at State Farm for 25+ years, including roles as IMS DBA, Db2 DBA, Db2 Product Support, Guardium Support, Mainframe Architecture Team, and part of the IDAA Support Team.

z/OS Performance “Hot” Topics

This presentation discusses the very latest insights and recommendations on a wide range of z/OS and IBM Z processor performance and capacity topics, including intersects with software, pricing, I/O technologies, and recent APARs. This fast-paced presentation is based on the latest feedback from customer experiences and Washington Systems Center best practices.

John Burg is a member of the Washington Systems Center (WSC) who focuses on z/OS and IBM Z processor performance and capacity sizing. He provides performance analysis for worldwide clients, providing feedback on IBM capacity sizing tools and IBM products.

Glenn Anderson, now retired from IBM, was a Managing Consultant with IBM Systems Lab Services and Training. During his 45 years with IBM, Glenn held positions in sales and support, management, technical training, conference speaking and event planning. Glenn holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. In his private life, Glenn is active in Chicago area theater as a member of an improvisational acting troupe and is a graduate of the Player’s Workshop of Second City. He has also performed original stand-up comedy, both in local clubs and occasionally on the conference stage.

Glenn is a personal development speaker, keynote speaker and conference host at events throughout the world. With over 25 years of conference speaking in venues large and small, Glenn is experienced, knowledgeable and entertaining.
