Overview

CICS provides a rich programming interface to allow applications to exploit a great many functional areas within the product. One of the more popular components for application use is the CICS temporary storage facility. This session describes what temporary storage is, what the various types of temporary storage environments are and how they are defined to CICS, discusses the concepts of local, remote, shared and recoverable queues, and outlines various use cases and performance considerations. It expands upon various enhancements to CICS temporary storage support and gives an overview of temporary storage diagnostics.
