Join Us!

There have been many developments in the IBM Z world, and we are bringing in IBM technical executives to the Carolinas to speak to you! Our theme for the Raleigh session on Oct. 29 is DevOps and AIOps while the theme for Charlotte on Nov. 7 is AI and Automation.

Registration closes November 4th at 10 AM

Our first speaker will be Elpida Tzortzatos, IBM Fellow and CTO of AI on IBM Z.  She leads the platform’s work on AI and will share current stories of the capabilities, use cases, and value AI workloads on IBM Z bring to our clients.

This will be followed by Len Santalucia, CTO Mainframe, Converge Solutions, who is a leader in the Open Mainframe Project.   Len will share new projects and activities by the group.

The morning will wrap up with a discussion by Maryela Weihrauch, IBM Distinguished Engineer in the Washington Systems Center, to discuss new capabilities to share data in near real time with a new data store on prem or in the cloud hosted by IBM’s watsonx.data solution.  IBM Data Gate for watsonx.data is built on the technology that powers the IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator and provides new options to share mainframe data managed by Db2, IMS, and VSAM.

The afternoon will start with an in depth discussion by Suman Gopinath, IBM Distinguished Engineer and CTO IBM Z DevOps, on  application understanding and explanation.  This session will detail new capabilities in using GenAI to understand COBOL programs and options at optimizing COBOL applications..

The second TechByte of the day will highlight two new blog posts by Marna Walle, IBM STSM in z/OS, on installation options for new open source products like IBM Semeru, Python, ZOAU, and the Open Enterprise Foundation.  DeWayne Hughes, Principal Z Client Architect, will share comments from a recent conversation with Marna.

The day will close with a session by Mike Fulton, IBM Distinguished Engineer in IBM Z Application Foundation, discussing ongoing work he leads in the brand to bring common open source software to z/OS and creating Infrastructure as Code capabilities with these tools.
