To kick off our morning, Mitchell Bride will give a presentation on the next generation of mainframes, IBM z17 Hardware. In this session, Mitchell will highlight new functions and features that are important to consider when configuring the next generation of IBM Z hardware.

Next, Frank De Gilio will give insight into the topic of Simplification on Z. While z/OS has grown into the most powerful and reliable platform, the tools used to manage it—JCL, REXX, ISPF, and TSO—haven’t changed much since the 1980s. Meanwhile, system administrators on other platforms have embraced modern tools and practices to streamline operations. It’s time for us to join them. In this session, we’ll explore why it’s critical to modernize z/OS management interfaces and how we’re developing the processes and technologies to help z/OS integrate seamlessly with today’s IT ecosystems. See how we’re transforming a dinosaur into a well-behaved house pet.

After lunch, we begin our afternoon session with a presentation by Rafael Nunes Martins on the latest and greatest, IBM watsonx™ Assistant for Z. You will learn how the AI assistant provides users with accurate, up-to-date answers to their IBM Z queries and simplifies the execution of both complex and repeated tasks, by codifying the knowledge of Z experts into trusted set of automations that can be used by IBM Z users of all experience levels.

To close out the day, Sandy Campbell will take us through Security on IBM Z. IBM Mainframes are the most securable platform in the industry, but you need to proactively take the necessary steps to protect and secure them to the maximum potential. Sandy will share the list of full potential steps to minimize risk and maximize security. She will outline these steps and share the experience from years of securing the platform.
