For our Summer 2025 session, we would like to showcase some of the most exciting developments around IBM Z.

.

We will kick off the day with an IBM Z Hardware UpdateKenny Stine from the IBM Washington Systems Center will highlight new functions and features that are important to consider when configuring the next generation of IBM Z hardware.

Next, we are thrilled to have a discussion of Ansible from a customer perspective. Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has adopted Ansible as their preferred automation platform across the organization. While the distributed teams were early adopters of Ansible at NFCU, it soon became evident that there would be key benefits to extending this approach to the core enterprise technologies such as CICS. Garrett Lucas will discuss what NFCU has done to enable CICS recycles with Ansible.

After lunch, Meral Temel will take us through updates in z/OS and GDPS.  Meral will discuss some of the enhancements and new functions added to z/OS 3.1 since its release.  She will also give a taste of some of the new capabilities that will be available in the newly announced z/OS 3.2.  She will then turn her attention to GDPS, which released version 4.8 in March. Meral will explain how GDPS automates mainframe tasks and disaster recovery to achieve resiliency goals and review what’s new or changed in the latest release.

Our last speaker Josh Steen will dive into IBM Threat Detection for z/OS, showcasing how AI can help identify potential insider threats and cyberattacks in real time. Discover how this solution enhances your security posture by bridging traditional threat detection with modern data resiliency and recovery strategies—helping you respond faster and more effectively to potential risks in your z/OS environment.
