IBM’s observability strategy for IBM Z focuses on adopting open standards like OpenTelemetry (OTel) to fully integrate the mainframe into enterprise observability platforms. In this session, we review progress across z/OS, subsystems, and key tooling, and explore how the IBM Z Observability Connect paired with Common Data Provider (CDP) enables collection of logs and metrics and traces in formats aligned with the broader OTel conventions. These capabilities help bridge traditional mainframe data with modern observability pipelines.

In this session, Ryan will further explore AI on Z with a presentation on IBM Bob Premium Package for Z. This AI-assisted offering gives teams faster insight into complex assets like COBOL programs, dependencies, and business logic, helping organizations confidently modernize core Z application.
