You are invited to join us for the next meeting of the “IBM Z Customer Council” in Jacksonville, FL on Wednesday June 13th 2018 |  9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Have you heard about Containers on Z?

Interested in Pervasive Encryption?

Wondering how to find and attract new mainframe talent?

Join us for an exciting and informative event!

We will start the session with a look into an area with increasing importance – Pervasive Encryption.  With organizations opening up their IT environments and relentless criminals chasing valuable data, a new threat landscape has emerged. Eysha Powers, IBM Z Cryptography Specialist, will give a technical look at Pervasive Encryption.  She will explain the crypto technologies that make up this solution as well as where and when they can be applied to protect the Enterprise.

Next will be a discussion of two tools that can simplify the creation of sandbox environments- zOSMF and Provisioning Toolkit.  Gary Puchkoff will describe how you can use z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF) workflows to provision servers on z/OS in minutes for your development teams. He will explain how this can work from a simple REST client, or with Provisioning Toolkit.  Combined, these tools can be used to potentially enable automation and self-service to many subsystem development environments.

Organizations are increasingly adopting a multi-cloud strategy, however not all workloads should operate in the public cloud for a variety of reasons- such as latency and compliance. There is a tremendous opportunity to leverage customers’ investments in the mainframe so that it can be part of an organization’s cloud strategy. Mainframe as a Service aims to deliver on this promise by leveraging IBM Cloud Private (ICp). Mike Edwards will show how organizations are starting to visualize the mainframe in new and differentiating ways.

Mainframe retirements.  Schools not teaching enterprise computing. Students without mainframe skills.  Sound familiar?   Christy Schroeder will discuss what IBM is doing to build mainframe talent in schools and universities and to help IBM Z clients attract, train, and retain young people for mainframe positions.
