You are invited to join us for our next meeting of the Cincinnati z Systems Customer Council.
Tuesday June 20th , 2016 |  8:30 am – 2:00 pm

In this session, we will update you on IBM’s latest developments in Security, Data Virtualization and Analytics on z Systems.

With organizations opening up their IT environments and relentless criminals chasing valuable data, a new threat landscape has emerged. The topic of Pervasive Computing in the Enterprise will be discussed to educate what’s happening in the cyber security space, why pervasive encryption is needed, and how you can achieve it on IBM z Systems.

Leveraging IBM Machine Learning for z/OS enables you to access z Systems data in place and combine that data with other sources of information, such as structured and unstructured data from other systems. Jonathan Sloan will explain how leading companies are leveraging data and predictive behavioral models and embracing machine learning to disrupt their competitors.

We are happy to be joined by Rocket Software Chief Technologist Gregg Wilhoit who will discuss Data Virtualization. Moving or replicating mainframe data is too slow, too rigid and lacks the enterprise reach needed to support the advanced modeling and algorithms associated with machine learning. The answer may just lie in data virtualization on z, providing universal access to data regardless of location or format.

Worried that you won’t be able to find bright, young talent to work on the mainframe?  Christy Schroeder will discuss the IBM Academic Initiative, which helps our z clients to find, attract, train, and retain people with z skills. She will also discuss opportunities for Cincinnati-area customers to participate in the program and help shape it to build a larger, better pipeline of new talent.

Finally, Clyde Richardson will show you how the new IBM Common Data Provider for z Systems provides IBM customers with a single source for the collection of z/OS Operational Data in a flexible, consumable format both on and off platform. It is a “read-once-write-to-many” solution which provides a near real-time data feed of SMF data and z LOG data to multiple IT Analytics destinations, in different formats for different consumers.
