You are invited to join us for the next meeting of the IBM Z Customer Council in Atlanta, GA on Friday, September 14th, 2018 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Our first speaker will start the session with explanation of Container Pricing for IBM Z – a groundbreaking new software pricing alternative to traditional capacity based metrics.  It combines flexible deployment options with competitive economics that are directly relevant to those solutions.  IBM Z Pricing Specialist Andrew Sica will discuss this new pricing approach and the types of solutions that benefit from it.

Next, John Casey of Rocket Software will show how to have easy access to difficult data with IBM Data Virtualization Manager (DVM). This session will focus on how IBM Data Virtualization Manager for z/OS makes data such as VSAM and SMF, which is difficult to access, appear to be easy-to-access relational tables. We will cover the various APIs that the product provides to make data accessible to modern programming languages and tools. And we will preview a new feature that will be available before year-end that will make access even easier.

Many organizations are moving to create a strategy around continuous integration and continuous delivery. Mark Boyd will provide insight into how the mainframe can participate in DevOps initiatives.  He will discuss new methodologies and tools that help provide seamless software delivery.  He will also explain how IBM tools can work in conjunction with OpenSource utilities to automate testing and deployment.

Rounding out our session  will be a discussion of two tools that can simplify the creation of sandbox environments- zOSMF and Provisioning Toolkit.  Hiren Shah will describe how you can use z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF) workflows to provision servers on z/OS in minutes for your development teams. He will explain how this can work from a simple REST client, or with Provisioning Toolkit.  Combined, these tools can be used to potentially enable automation and self-service to many subsystem development environments.
