Join us for an exciting and informative event!
In this session, we will update you on IBM’s latest developments in Pricing, z/OS and Containers.

We’ll kick off the session with our presentation from Rob Hilgert of IBM. He will discuss Tailor Fit Pricing – IBM’s most significant change in mainframe software pricing in the past 20 years. You will learn how it can free your operations team to manage to your user’s business requirements and not be limited by the Rolling Four Hour Average which has been used to govern software billing.

Next, we are delighted to have Gary Puchkoff join us to give an update on z/OS 2.4. He will preview new facilities and features planned for z/OS 2.4 that affect system programmers and application developers. He will discuss highlights of planned functions for scalability and performance, availability, management, security, application development, and usability.

Following the z/OS update, Gary will walk us through some of IBM’s newest developments in container technology. He will discuss how to modernize and extend your z/OS application portfolio through z/OS Container Extensions. With this new technology, you are now able to run makes it possible to run applications built using Docker containers on z/OS.

We will then take a break to grab lunch and re-convene to have a COMUG Discussion on ReFraming the Mainframe Project led by Monte Bauman and Earl Lindsay.

After lunch, we’ll discuss another new cloud innovation – z/OS Cloud Broker, which gives you the ability to access and deploy z/OS resources and services to a cloud managed container infrastructure. We will also introduce IBM Cloud Paks, which will provide an enterprise grade platform for a hybrid cloud solution.

Monte Bauman will then provide food for thought on a database that’s growing in popularity – MongoDB. He will review the architectural considerations regarding MongoDB and discuss use cases around its adoption.

We will wrap up our day by opening the floor for discussion, final questions and feedback.
