IBM Z Modernization Half Day – Denver, CO

The IBM Modernization Event is designed to enlighten customers on the top trends and developments in the mainframe arena. Armed with the most up-to-date information about the capabilities of the platform, you will then be able to chart your own journey to become “Incumbent Disruptors”. This half-day event will begin with an overview of the IBM Z Evolution Framework to help customers understand what factors should be considered when developing a modernization strategy. Then, subject matter experts will provide deeper dives into solutions that address those areas and outline next steps.

This half-day event will focus on the latest updates on IBM Z’s capabilities in Hybrid Cloud and DevOps.

Speakers and Topics

	First, Scott Simons will give an overview of the the IBM Z Modernization Framework which outlines the factors that should be considered when developing a modernization strategy. He will include discussion on the Modern Languages on Z, Microservices and APIs, Decision Management as well as other considerations.
	Now that the concept of DevOps has been around for a few years and more organizations have embraced it, the natural question for many is, “What now?”—especially considering DevOps success is measured by different yardsticks and many organizations have started DevOps Journeys that are expanding to IBM Z Systems and to Hybrid Multi Cloud architectures. Eric Minick, IBM Program Director and Offering Manager for IBM Hybrid Cloud DevOps, will share what IBM is doing to help organizations to embrace Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery for applications on all compute platforms and to scale from a small number of developers to hundreds or thousands of developers fully embracing DevOps. This is known as “Day 2 DevOps”, and the changing growth and composition of Cloud workloads brings new challenges and opportunities.
	Next, there have been a lot of major developments at IBM regarding Cloud and container technology. IBM Hybrid Cloud DevOps Offering Manager Bryan Foley will visit discuss the new Hybrid Cloud landscape, particularly on the mainframe.
	Many organizations are moving to create a strategy around continuous integration and continuous delivery. Mark Boyd will provide insight into how the mainframe can participate in DevOps initiatives. He will discuss new methodologies and tools that help provide seamless software delivery. He will also explain how IBM tools can work in conjunction with OpenSource utilities to automate testing and deployment.
