A fresh look at CICS Security

Overview

For many people in IT, security is top of mind due to recent events that have made headlines. The best defense is a layered approach with controls and audits to assure that these controls are not circumvented.

CICS provides an important gateway to data stored on mainframe.  Therefore it’s vital to set up the security controls in CICS and to secure the points of access to CICS applications such as the network.

This session will outline best practices for setting up security in CICS coupled with the  system security manager (eg.. RACF). It will also cover the use of AT/TLS for encrypting data in flight,  look at the intrusion detection services provided by the z/OS Communication Server and CICS, and demonstrate how the zSecure CICS tool kit can be used to audit the security configuration in CICS.
