You are invited to join us for the next meeting of the “New York Z Customer Council” in New York on Wednesday, March 20th 2019 |  9:30 am – 2:45 pm

 

Join us for an exciting and informative event!

We’ll kick off the session with Barry Baker, he will discuss strategic areas of focus for IBM Z and the technologies that IBM Z provides to support those areas. The areas covered are development speed and agility, modernization of and access to core business logic, drawing value from core data assets and investment in open source technologies. Additionally, Barry will offer his perspective on the IBM z14 and some of the unique technologies designed in partnership with IBM Z clients.

Real-time insights from data analytics are becoming increasingly important to support decision making at all levels to improve interactions with customers, predict when problems may occur, and detect fraud.  Agile businesses are using data science to enhance the customer experience and reduce costs.  Joe Bostian will show how the latest analytics infrastructure is being deployed in the enterprise to bring compute capabilities to corporate transactional data to reduce cost, improve security, and simplify the overall IT environment.  Understand how the concept of data gravity can be used as a guide to apply the right resources in the right places to optimize returns on investment.  

Then, we will hear the latest IBM announcement buzz from Think2019 related to new technologies and Z Systems at a high level. David Morlitz will summarize of all of the newest announcements from IBM and brief discussions about how these announcements relate to your Z environment.

Following, Yongkook(Alex) Kim, shows ViVa (Vicom Infinity Voice Assistant) a voice assistant that can securely interact with a mainframe using your voice and the latest technologies such as IBM Watson, Secure Services Container and Linux Foundation Open Mainframe Project’s open source tool Zowe.

Rounding out our session we will wrap up with Marilyn Zeppetelli and Harry Williams, they will cover an overview of the IDCP’s certificate programs for Z/OS System Programmers, Z/OS Applications Programmers, and Data Center Facilities Management personnel. Marist College has leveraged its history of server virtualization to provide a Shared Services program to other small colleges, providing both hardware and application support.
