We are back!
We are thrilled to announce the return of in-person IBM zSystems Customer Councils in Phoenix.
During our absence, there have been many developments in the IBM zSystems world, and we would like to highlight some of the most exciting topics. Our theme for the day is Modernization, and we will cover how the platform has evolved to deliver new business services, capabilities and thought leadership.
Our first speaker Leigh Compton will kick off the session with a review of the recent enhancements to CICS for z/OS including availability of CICS TS V6.1 and updates to V5.5 and V5.6 delivered through the Continuous Delivery channel. V6.1 of CICS brings significant new functionality for both application developers and systems programmers in the areas of security, resource definition and deployment, operations management, and automated DevOps pipelines.
This will be followed by an introduction to z/OS Connect OpenAPI 3. IBM z/OS Connect is IBM’s strategic solution for providing REST API based communication both into and out of the mainframe. In 2022, z/OS Connect expanded its capabilities to support the OpenAPI 3 Specification. Kenishia Callaway will provide a look at the new capabilities of z/OS Connect OpenAPI 3 and implementation of the product.
Next, Roberto Calderon will dive into z/OS Container Extensions (zCX). Red Hat OpenShift running on IBM z/OS, using zCX, enables clients to integrate containerized Linux on IBM Z applications and software within z/OS. This gives clients the ability to co-locate applications and workloads that have an affinity for z/OS by bringing those applications and workloads closer to z/OS applications and data without a separately provisioned Linux server. This topic will dive into the details of how our clients are able to take advantage of the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform while exploiting z/OS qualities of service (QoS).
To close out the day, Brian Yaeger will review the recent hardware and software advances that have made zSystems an outstanding environment for leveraging AI technology, with use cases ranging from in-transaction predictive analytics for high-volume online and batch operational applications to extended analytical insight derived from existing databases
