We would like to showcase some of the most exciting developments around IBM Z.

Our first speaker Julie Bergh will open the day discussing AI and mainframe security. Mainframes are no longer isolated systems and are now connected to the cloud, mobile, and web-based applications, which have increased the complexity of security management. We will learn that the use of AI in mainframe security is becoming increasingly important due to the evolving security threats and the need to ensure the security and reliability of mainframe systems. She will explain how AI can help in areas such as file integrity monitoring, real-time analytics, and automation of security tasks to remediate mainframe security risks.

Next , Jerome Gilbert will dive into the latest and greatest IBM watsonx™ Code Assistant for Z. You will learn what it means to use an AI first strategy and how to accelerate application modernization to better support business transformation initiatives in your organization. This session will share IBM’s PoV on Application Modernization entry points for the IBM Z platform and demonstrate how Generative AI accelerates that journey.

After lunch, Robert Catterall will explore how can you effectively secure Db2 for z/OS-managed data? Encryption is an important part of that story, but there’s more – plenty more. In this session you’ll learn about various aspects of Db2 data encryption, and you’ll also learn the importance of privilege management, client authentication, column masks, row permissions. auditing, application architecture, test data management, and RACF (or equivalent) management of Db2-internal security.

Finally, Tom Bish will review key cybersecurity challenges facing organizations today and why solutions like air gaps are not an effective cyber defense on their own. This will be followed by a discussion on how the IBM Z Cyber Vault solution differentiates from the air gap alternatives in the market by not only providing data copies but by actively monitoring for data corruption so that an organization can detect a cyber-attack faster and is ready to respond in a heartbeat.
