Join us!
Our theme for the day is Modernization, and we will cover how the platform has evolved to deliver new business services, capabilities and thought leadership.
We will kick off the day with Joanie Gines discussing Application Modernization with IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Z (WCAz). This is a solution that leverages generative AI to accelerate code generation and increase developer productivity. It uses AI to support Application Modernization and IT Automation with IBM Z Application Modernization as the latest use case. She will introduce WCAz and explain how it can how it can incrementally modernize and re-factor COBOL business services and selectively transform code into high-quality Java code.
Next, Kenishia Callaway and Bill Powers will discuss how to modernize access to applications and data. Kenishia will cover how application developers can incorporate z/OS data and transactions into their applications without the need to understand z/OS subsystems. Bill will show how any piece of data on the mainframe can be accessible real-time with RESTful APIs through the addition of IBM Data Virtualization Manager.
Application modernization projects face challenges in sharing data or information between Z-based systems and cloud applications. Roy Duke will discuss how IBM Z Digital Integration Hub (zDIH) provides a new approach to efficiently share real-time information between core systems running on z/OS and hybrid cloud applications, while also offering operational and development optimizations and TCO advantages. This session will provide an overview of the zDIH solution, discuss how it integrates with your systems of record and hybrid cloud applications, and review a customer use case and the benefits achieved in bringing Z to the edge of their hybrid cloud!
Our last speaker, Pedro Acosta will close the day discussing what you can do with Linux on IBM Z that you can’t do with x86. In this presentation, we will take a closer look at the Linux on IBM Z platform to uncover its unique capabilities that set it apart from x86 alternatives. We will explore the performance and scalability advantages of Linux on IBM Z, delve into its security features, and demonstrate how you can leverage the platform to help achieve your sustainability goals while reducing costs. You will discover why clients worldwide have chosen Linux on IBM Z to modernize their IT infrastructures.
