We are back!

We are thrilled to announce an in-person IBM Z Customer Council in Boston, MA

There have been many developments in the IBM Z world, and we would like to highlight some of the most exciting topics in modernization, cyber resiliency, and IBM LinuxONE.

Our first speaker will kick off the session with a look at what IBM is doing to help build a sustainable workforce. Shelly Meierarend will discuss the IBM Z Skills program and its work to attract and train talent. Shelly will open the floor to the council to discuss their experiences with the IBM Z Global Skills Acceleration Program and will introduce Leonard Santalucia to discuss how the Open Mainframe Project is furthering this effort.

Next, Mitchell Bride will present on the IBM LinuxONE 4 Express, the newest addition to the IBM LinuxONE product family. The new system will extend the latest performance, security, sustainability, and AI capabilities of LinuxONE to small- and medium-sized businesses and within new data center environments. The pre-configured rack mount system is designed to offer cost savings and remove client guesswork when rolling out solutions to address new and traditional use cases such as digital assets, medical imaging with AI, and workload consolidation.

Then, Baha Majid will present on IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Z, our latest Generative AI-assisted mainframe application modernization solution. Mainframe (IBM Z) application modernization is a topic that every mainframe client is addressing to various degrees today, driven largely from digital transformation. With generative AI comes the opportunity to reimagine the mainframe application modernization experience. Infusing generative AI will enable speed and trust, help de-risk, and lower total costs associated with heavy-lifting application modernization initiatives. You will see an overview of the IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Z which uses the power of generative AI to make it easier for developers to selectively modernize COBOL business services while maintaining mainframe qualities of service.

After lunch, Rebecca Levesque will close out the day presenting on The New Era of Mainframe Security and Resiliency. As security threats become more complex and common, it has become increasingly clear that securing data is just the first step to protecting your business, customers, and reputation. Resiliency has become the focus of regulations that are pushing companies to have active, thorough, and tested resiliency plans. A modern approach to mainframe resiliency means drastically reducing the mean time to repair of all data and impacted applications. Learn how to navigate compliance with confidence through the implementation of a product that provides detailed analytic reporting that reduces the reliance on manual approaches and provides a clear framework to recovering from the inevitable threats.
