You are cordially invited to join us for the Minneapolis Z Council meeting on Monday December 9th, 2019.

The Z Councils are offered by IBM Systems Hardware and Software teams, to provide an insight into IBM mainframe recent announcements, Z System software tooling, and to provide and exchange of ideas, observations and experiences with Z Systems hardware and software.

First, MQ and Event Streams – Kafka Integration on zOS –  Subhajit Maitra.  Due to the increasingly rapid pace of business, new integration patterns have emerged. Specifically event-driven integration. Event-driven integration can respond in real-time. However, how do traditional and new integration patterns fit together?  Subhajit will share how this is happening.

Subhajit Maitra is an IBM-certified IT Specialist and member of the IBM North America System Z Hybrid Cloud Technical Sales team. Subhajit has been an IBM Global Technical Ambassador for Central and Eastern Europe. He holds a Masters degree in Computer Science, has written 7 IBM Redbooks, is a Redbooks Platinum author, and a zChampion.

Next, The new IBM z15:  Announcement and Overview – Kenneth Stine.  This session will introduce you to the newest member of the IBM Z family, the z15. We will cover new features and functionality released with the z15, the new footprint, power options and processor architecture.

Kenny Stine  joined IBM after graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a B.S. in Computer Science. He started at the Washington Systems Center in IBM Z Hardware and Middleware, from there he has spent the last 5 years as a field Client Technical Specialist for IBM Z.

Next, Broadcom will present the latest in network gear for Z.   They will present GEN6, the latest in z networking technology.

Our third presenter is Jamar Smith, a zAnalytics Data Scientist on the North America z Hybrid Cloud team.  Jamar will present Watson Machine Learning for z. He specializes in assisting data science teams and machine learning engineers with developing and deploying their models into production.  He works closely with customers to address business needs with machine learning to demonstrate the value of machine learning on business-critical systems.

Prior to  IBM, he worked as a statistician in cancer research. He has a Masters of Science in Information Management from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.of ODM on z/OS and has real insight into the issues they face and the benefits they can gain from a business rules-based decision.
